» This is the Fringe at it's best! Before a performer hits the stage, we realize we are in for a multimedia
show. Here is everything. Musicians, acrobats, singers, and clowns. It is a sensory overload.
The music is by Mark Chaet (violin) and Sergej Sweschinskij (bass violin and electric bass), performed by
Adam Tomaszewski on percussion, Svetoslav Karparov on Piano, Dmitry Geller and Pavel Kurdokov on
trumpet, Anke Lucks on trombone, and fragile-sweet vocals by Momo Kohlschmidt would complete a
wonderful theatrical evening[…]This is as good as it gets! A must see! «

» Though this performance is named Balagan, the Russian word for mess, no such disparaging or
mundane word could ever be used to describe it. To watch Balagan is to enter an enchanted world that is
built up in an incredible fusion of music, dance and acrobatics.
Like a daydream incarnate, Nataliya and Viktor Nebrat spring forth from a frozen wilderness lit by the
radiance of Momo Kohlschmid, who seemingly hovers in angelic brilliance above them both. Momo’s voice
fills the air with resonant song as the couple performs spellbinding feats of acrobatics with the slow and
tender grace of a lover’s touch[…]From the enthralling music served up by the many talented musicians,
including the impishly sexy Mark Chaet, to the hilarious but physically demanding acrobatic performance
of Oktay and Telman Novruzov, Balagan is easily one of the most remarkable productions on the
Fringe[…]Balagan is unlike any other show the Fringe has to offer and it is a privilege to see so many
talented artists under the one roof. You must see this show! «

» Musicians, acrobats, singers and clowns - this is theatrical entertainment, old school style. It is as if we
have gone back in time, travelled to the heart of Europe, and the circus has rolled into town. Opening with
'Passion', an acrobatic duo who blend muscular manoeuvres with an almost balletic grace, Balagan's
unique quality is immediately apparent. As the couple stretch, bend and lift, the seven-piece band belt out
uplifting tunes on violin, double bass, drums and a fantastic brass section. The haunting vocals of German
singer Momo Kohlschmidt float overhead. Between them, they run the gamut of jazz, folk, classical and
tango[…]and the band plays on, creating shades of light and dark with their sometimes melancholy, but
largely exuberant, compositions[…]a stunning image that remains with us long after this merry band of
artistes has bid farewell. «
